Help Us Keep Our Promise — and See Your Gift Matched
Friend,
When we hired Estefania to be our program director, we got much more than we bargained for, in many ways! One example is Dra. Montserrat “Monse” Moreno.
Dra. Monse is Estefania’s sister, a medical doctor who specializes in women’s health issues, works at a women’s hospital, and generously volunteers her services to us and to our girls.
One recent evening, we received a call from Monse. She was at work at the hospital. She was in tears as she told us the reason for her call. In a small town near the hospital, a young girl was found wandering the streets, distressed and in need of medical attention. She was brought to the hospital and placed under Dra. Monse’s care. As she interviewed this little one and began her medical assessment, Monse learned the reasons she ended up on the streets and eventually at the hospital.
As best as Monse could determine, Leydi was no more than twelve years old. Leydi was unsure of her own age. She disclosed that she did not know where her parents were, or who they were, as years before she had been sold to another family to be their servant. At some point, one of those family members began to sexually assault her, which prompted her to flee, and subsequently ended up living on the streets.
The purpose of Monse’s tearful call was to ask if we would be willing to bring Leydi into Reina’s Hope rather than have her sent to one of the government institutions. She was certainly much younger than our other girls.
Many protocols must first be followed; investigations and creation of legal documents for this abandoned little soul, before she can be put under our care. Those processes are currently proceeding as we, and Leydi, wait for that approval. In the meantime, we pray, and ask that you, too, join us in praying that if this is truly within the Lord’s plan for us, for Reina’s Hope, and for Leydi, then the doors would be open and the paths would be cleared to bring her home. Our current girls are already excited about having a new little sister in the family.
Because this mission matters deeply, our Board has agreed to match donations given for the remainder of 2025, multiplying the impact of your generosity and helping us provide healing, safety, and hope to more girls in need.
Until they all come HOME,
