Aguas Sagradas Ranch

Aguas Sagradas, which means “Sacred Waters,” is a home environment providing a traditional family setting and personal mentoring to launch young woman into independent living. Our vision is that Aguas Sagradas will be a sustainable ranch that both pays for itself and creates job opportunities for the community.

Aguas Sagradas is a ranch of approximately 15 acres located on the outskirts of the city of Las Margaritas in Chiapas Mexico.

Margaritas is approximately 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the Guatemalan border, and located in the beautiful mountain region at an elevation of about 1520 meters (5,000 ft.) above sea level. The village of Margaritas was founded in 1871, and achieved city status in 1981. As recently as 1994 it was one of the cities seized by the Zapatista National Liberation Army during their uprising and the Zapatistas continue to maintain a presence in some of the surrounding communities to this day.

Margaritas boasts a local population of about 25,000 and its surrounding communities have a population of about 100,000 total residents, which provides a robust economy and ample commerce and educational opportunities. The nearby city of Comitan provides numerous additional universities and private schools offering programs in the fields of medicine, engineering, technology and numerous others.
