Celebrate Flori's 1st Year at Reina's Hope
Hello Friend,
In May, we celebrated the 1-year anniversary of the arrival of our first resident, Flori. She came to us after spending most of her life in various institutions, after being rescued from severe sexual abuse and abandonment.
When she arrived, she was, at the same time, rather shy and also very headstrong, and a bit defiant. You might recall from an earlier update that she came in wanting to become a lawyer and a judge, "so I can tell other people what to do." Recently, she declared that she had decided that her ambitions have changed and she was considering becoming a teacher, "so that I can help others."
As we celebrated her first year at Reina’s Hope, Flori commented on some of the things she has learned and experienced since being here:
It is an amazing thing to experience and recall the progress she has made in just one year and to see the change of heart, mind, and emotions the Lord has performed in this precious soul.
This month, we also interviewed a very promising prospect to join our Reina’s Hope family. When she was only 5 years old, Janeth was found walking the streets of Tuxtla hand-in-hand with her 8-year-old brother. Abandoned by family and left to fend for themselves on the streets, they were rescued and have spent the last 9 years in government institutional care. Janeth is an ambitious and dedicated student with aspirations of becoming an architect. She loves dance and basketball – and her favorite subject is PHYSICS!?
We had a very positive interview with her, explaining the benefits and requirements of Reina’s Hope. We are all very excited about the prospect of inviting her into our family.
Please join us in prayer as we consider this next step of growth in our journey and the journey for Janeth and each of our other girls.
Until they all come HOME,
